The Universal Boxing Council (UBC) is a global professional boxing sanctioning organization dedicated to developing talent, regulating fair and competitive professional bouts, and promoting emerging fighters from every corner of the world. Since our founding in 2006, we have grown into a respected independent body, distinct from the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO, yet operating with equal commitment to integrity, transparency, and the welfare of the athletes we serve.

Under the steadfast leadership of President Luis Bello-Diaz, the UBC fills a critical role in the boxing ecosystem. We provide a clear, structured pathway for dedicated fighters to rise from prospect to champion—whether through regional titles, international championships, or the pinnacle of UBC World titles.

To develop boxing talent globally, regulate championship bouts under unified, fighter-first rules, and promote the sport in regions where opportunity has traditionally been limited. We believe that a boxer's potential should be determined by skill and heart—not by geography.

The UBC believes talent knows no borders. Our championship belts are contested across multiple continents, including:

• The Americas – United States, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America

• Europe – Growing presence across Eastern and Western Europe

• Asia – Partnerships with promoters in developing Asian boxing markets

• Africa – A major focus of our expansion efforts (see below)

The UBC is deeply committed to the sustainable growth of professional boxing across the African continent. Through active partnerships with local African promoters, we are creating meaningful opportunities for African boxers to compete, develop, and shine on both regional and international stages.

Our flagship initiative is the annual UBC African Youth Championship – a premier tournament designed to identify and nurture young African talent while providing a structured pathway from the amateur ranks to professional title contention. By investing in Africa's fighters today, the UBC is building the champions of tomorrow.

The UBC does not simply sanction fights; we advocate for the fighters. Following tragic events in the ring, our African division, led by President Onyeka Eboma Elum, has become a leading voice for proactive reform.

Rather than calling for total suspensions of the sport—which hurt fighters, families, and the sport itself—the UBC has proposed a sustainable alternative: enhanced strict safety protocols and elevated medical supervision. These include mandatory pre-fight screenings, ringside neurosurgeons at championship bouts, and extended medical suspensions after knockouts. We believe that with the right medical infrastructure and ringside oversight, the sport can continue to thrive without compromising the health and well-being of its athletes.

All UBC World and Intercontinental title bouts are governed by a comprehensive, written set of Unified Rules designed for fairness, clarity, and fighter protection.

Key officials: A non-scoring referee (sole authority to stop the fight) plus three scoring judges. The referee may consult the ringside physician at any time.

The UBC offers a full hierarchy of championships:

• World Championship – The pinnacle of UBC recognition

• International Championship – Bridging continents and contenders

• Intercontinental Championship – Bridging continents

• Continental Championship – A key stepping stone in preparations for international or world titles

• Youth Championship - Designed to identify, develop, and showcase the next generation of boxing talent

Women are invited to contest any title in any weight division, provided they meet UBC title criteria.

Each UBC championship bout is overseen by a designated UBC Representative who:

• Arrives at the fight site and contacts the promoter and local commission immediately

• Attends all press conferences, pre-fight meetings, and official commission meetings

• Conducts official weigh-ins alongside local commissioners

• Ensures all UBC championship rules are enforced

• Submits a detailed written report to the President and Championship Committee Chairman within 72 hours after the contest

All UBC title fights must be booked and paid at least 30 days in advance of the bout date to meet sanctioning requirements.

Step 1: Promoters, managers, and trainers contact UBC to express interest in organizing a title bout.

Step 2: Applicants are directed to the UBC General Coordinator for their specific region of the world.

Step 3: Sanctioning fees are confirmed, bout details are reviewed, and championship rules are enforced.

Legal Notice: Any other organization trading under the UBC name without authorization is operating outside registered trademark regulations and is liable for prosecution.
